finals of the french open

Sadly my bomb, Roger Federer fell to Rafael Nadal today in the finals of the French Open. This would have been Roger’s fourth consecutive Grand Slam title, but Nadal was the defending champion – and in winning, extended his record for consecutive wins on clay – to 60! Ok, but who cares about tennis when Jennifer Anuston and Vince Vaughn are in the crowd. Double Yawn! Does anyone care that these two bores are a couple? Seriously though, isn't it annoying how they've been all coy about their relationship!?! He's chubby and creepy, and she could probably do a lot better - if it weren't for that whole desperate vibe.

Back to the tennis - All in all it was a pretty good match, and Nadal was a gracious winner - although it bothered me considerably when he rolled around like a pig in the dirty clay after the championship point. Hideous. After he accepted the winner’s trophy, he spoke to the crowd and among other things, said –
“I can’t say I’m better than him. Since I was born, I’ve never seen a complete player. He’s the best.” For his part, Federer said – He’s a fighter and a grinder, and he deserves to win here.”

Yesterday, the women’s defending champion Justine Henin-Hardenne defeated the heinous Svetlana Kuznetsova in a not so exciting championship. In her interview following the match, Justine said -

"Winning here for the third time means maybe more than the fifth Grand Slam for me, I mean, because it's physically and mentally very hard on clay.”
This fifth Grand Slam win ties her with both Venus Williams and ‘perpetual über-cunt Martina Hingis’.

Next up is Wimbledon which runs from June 26 to July 9, and then the US Open from August 28 through September 10.
